Flapjacks
A standard chewy and filling oat flapjack which can be used as the basis for many variations

Ingredients
- 170g margarine
- 100g caster sugar
- 170p porridge oats
- 60g self raising flour
- A pinch of salt
- 2-3 tsp of Golden Syrup (optional)
Instructions
Preparatory Tasks
- Preheat oven to 190°C
- Line an 8" x 12" baking tin (approx. 20cm x 30cm) with greaseproof paper
Cooking
- Melt the margarine in a pan over low heat
- Add the sugar and stir until dissolved
- (Optional) Add the golden syrup and continue stirring
- Remove from the heat
Mixing
- Add the oats, sifted flour and salt into the warm mixture
- Stir until everything is completely coated
- Pour the mixture into the baking tin and level it off
Baking
- Bake on centre shelf for about 20 mins (until a light brown colour)
- Leave to cool on a wire rack
- Cut into required shapes
